27th June, 2016, Dar es Salaam - Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania Limited has expanded its reach to thirty more branches countrywide through a strategic partnership with Tanzania Postal Bank. 
Speaking at a press conference to announce the two bank’s strategic partnership, Standard Chartered Bank’s Head of Transaction Banking, Mr. Chima Mbanefo, said that his bank has embarked on the strategic partnership to enable its customers to have enhanced business activities through having additional channels for their business operations. 
“Banking our clients’ entire ecosystem is a key goal for Standard Chartered. This initiative will help us provide for the banking needs of our clients’ entire ecosystem, which will be achieved by expanding our reach through this alliance.” 
While the bank boasts of great digital capabilities with continued enhancement on its online and mobile banking platforms, this partnership is seen to offer alternative banking solutions that cater for diversified needs of its clients. The partnership is expected to ease the process of doing business for Standard Chartered Bank’s clients and their partners by expanding the branch network, thus improving efficiency and speed of service. 
For a start, the two banks agreed to create a common platform that connects Standard Chartered with sixty Tanzania Postal Bank branches covering various regions in Tanzania. 
Both organizations have taken necessary measures to ensure high level of security on the platform, therefore, giving a client’s comfort in terms of safety and confidentiality of their transactions. Mr. Mbanefo added that once funds are deposited at a Tanzania Postal Bank branch, the amount is reflected in the receiver’s account within one and a half hours of the deposit. 
On his part, Mr. Jema Msuya, Tanzania Postal Bank’s Director of Technology and Operations hailed its bank’s partnership with Standard Chartered Bank noting that his bank’s customers will also benefit from the initiative. “Some of our customers carry out business activities with Standard Chartered Bank’s account holders. This initiative will, therefore, further enhance business activities amongst the two banks’ account holders.” 
Mr. Msuya also added that he was pleased with the partnership given his bank’s wide network in Tanzania. “Our bank has over 30 full-fledged and 30 Mini branches in Tanzania. Our partnership with Standard Chartered Bank will cover regions such as Mbeya, Tabora, Bukoba and Dodoma.”  
The two banks’ officials called upon its customers and the public to leverage on the partnership thus enhancing their business activities.
