US Embassy Public Affairs Officer Visits Clouds Media

On July 28, 2014 U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer Ms. Marissa Maurer visited Clouds Media Offices and Studios in Dar es Salaam. She was welcomed by Clouds Media’s Director - Programs and Production Mr. Ruge Mutahaba and Head of TV – Production Mr. Ramadhani Bukini who briefed her about various programs and campaigns being undertaken by the Media group through its radio and television stations; Clouds FM (88.5FM), Choice FM (102.5) and Clouds TV.

He noted that addition to informing and entertaining audiences (predominantly listeners under the age of 35) Clouds Media seeks to inspire and empower young Tanzanians to seek out opportunities to uplift themselves and contribute positively to the development of their communities and nation.

Through the hugely successful 'Fursa' (Opportunity) and ' Aminia' (Believe in...) campaigns, Clouds Media has been able to inspire many young people by instilling in them a sense of responsibility for their own development, and the development of their nation.

In addition, Mr. Mutahaba said that Clouds Media aims to continue working with the U.S. Embassy to promote youth issues, especially the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI), stating: “We want young Tanzanians to know and make optimal use of these opportunities”.

In response, Ms. Maurer commented on the enthusiasm and dedication of the staff and leadership at the media house, as well as their desire to positively impact young people across the country. She added that the U.S. Embassy welcomes the opportunity to explore areas for possible future cooperation with Clouds Media with the aim of enhancing professionalism amongst its staff and empowering Tanzanian youth.

Clouds media is scheduled to broadcast a live stream of President Barack Obama’s Town Hall meeting with YALI Fellows in Washington DC on July 28, 2014 from 18:00 to 19:00 and will be hosting a panel discussion with several members of the community before and after the President’s live stream to hear their thoughts on President Obama’s remarks.
